New York: Day Dos

I had an incredible time in NYC…could you tell? I didn’t update my blog which means I was too busy having fun to fill you in, but now I am back at work so I have plenty of time (:
Day Two started rough because I am the worst drinker in the world.  I am not made for alcohol.  Take an empty stomach, add some antibiotics, a glass and a half of wine, and voilà, you have a pukey Jen the next morning.  Pathetic.  At breakfast I had my Diet Coke and banana pancakes, which were delicious; unfortunately they were not fully appreciated as I was distracted by the rumbling in my belly and my fierce intent on keeping them down, which I did.
After breakfast we made our way to Rockefeller Center.  M got his hair cut and I walked around taking pictures and getting catcalled by some crazy mofos by the jewelry stores.  When he was finished we met up with his awesome mom and checked out the Farmer’s Market at Rockefeller Center.

Eventually we made our way to his parent’s home right by Central Park and took the infamous Ginger out for her walk.  I had heard so much about her and Morris talked her up so much I almost expected her to poop gold or something, but nope, just normal dog shit like all the other bitches.  She is super cute though and was very excited to be in Central Park, as was I.  Ginger owned that place and was happy to lead the way.  I love Central Park so much, seeing people enjoying the outdoors and relaxing in the middle of the city.  There are so many wonderful paths and it makes me want to exercise. Weird.  But I was more than content chillin’ in the grass and watching Morris and Ginger make out.

We took the car out for a drive and that proved to be a bit unsuccessful due to the fact that it was Friday and 5:00……........
Anyhow, we did make it to the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.  Here’s some info about the church according to God, I mean, Wikipedia:
..the cathedral disputes with Liverpool Anglican Cathedral the title of the largest cathedral and Anglican church and fourth largest Christian church in the world. The inside covers 121,000 sq ft (11,200 m2), spanning a length of 183.2 meters (601 ft) and height 70.7 meters (232 ft). The inside height of the nave is 37.8 meters (124 feet).

The cathedral is nicknamed St. John the Unfinished.

The cathedral, designed in 1888 and begun in 1892, has, in its history, undergone radical stylistic changes and the interruption of the two World Wars. Originally designed as Byzantine-Romanesque, the plan was changed after 1909 to a Gothic design. After a large fire on December 18, 2001, it was closed for repairs and reopened in November 2008. It remains unfinished, with construction and restoration a continuing process.

I had been here before when visiting Stephanie, it is a short walk from her house, but it was great to see it again.

We looked through some books and posters on the street then made our way to dinner.

I wanted Italian and Morris took me to Malatesta Trattoria in the West Village.  We made it right before the sky decided to open up and unleash its wrath in the form of some pretty wicked rain and lightning.  We had to huddle inside the little restaurant waiting for our table while watching people running by with collapsed umbrellas.

I ordered ravioli in a pink sauce and it was incredible; soooo creamy and perfect.  I was quite pleased with my choice and the ambience was wonderful with the candlelight and rain streaming down the windows.  (If you ever go to an authentic Italian restaurant with real Italian waiters who actually speak Italian, make sure you try to go with a handsome man who can speak Italian to them. Mmm.)

We got to huddle under the umbrella together on the way home, soaked, full, and happy.  Another lovely day.
