New York: Day Tres

Saturday we went to Bareburger in the morning for breakfast.  Morris ordered better than me this time and while I ate my breakfast burrito he feasted on an amazing creation: carrot cake French toast.  It was so rich and delicious it didn’t even need the root beer maple syrup it came with.

He paparazzied me on the way home (:

It was such a nice, sunny day so we decided to make our way to the beach.  We did a crossword without a pen, good thing it was easy, but still, that is an impressive feat I believe.  The beach was really relaxing.  Morris forced me to play paddle ball which was actually kind of fun.  Don’t tell him I said that.  He also made me go a lot deeper into the water than I normally would have.  There were some beginning prickles of a panic attack building up in my collar bones but I held on to M hoping that he would get attacked by the shark first and I would be allowed a clean getaway.
We did some sunbathing and relaxing and junk food munching.  I forgot I was in NYC and this pretty much sealed the deal for me.  I was already in love with the city and the parks and the food and the people…throw a beach on top of all that and I am sold.

We made our way down the boardwalk to Coney Island, which sadly, is not really an island.  I think this is bullshit.  However, the hotdogs at Nathan’s were everything you want them to be.

We got home and washed the Coney Island gunk off of us then made our way to the Highline again to meet Morris’ friends, Alex and Yasmeen.  We picked up pizza from Artichoke and ate it in the park. Deliciso! I am craving it now!

After strolling, we decided to head towards some ice cream.  As we made our way we ran across Junot Diaz, Dominican-American writer and Pulitzer Prize winner, and we also stopped by a bookshop called bookbook where we each picked up some things.  The ice cream was sooooo good: caramel with Oreos and chocolate covered pretzels!  We wandered around the Lower East Side for a bit, stopped in a bar and had a drink and then called it a night.
Such a fun night in the city with wonderful company!
