Once you go Pisces...

“I don't believe in astrology; I'm a Sagittarius and we're skeptical”  -Arthur C. Clarke
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be “Pisces”.  I fit the profile so completely, it baffles me.  I am the Pisces Poster Girl.

I don’t have any faith in daily horoscopes.  I don’t check mine regularly and on the occasion that I do it is usually because I am bored at work.  Mostly they are generic and could apply to anyone, but sometimes they say exactly what you should hear.  I think daily horoscopes are fun and entertaining, but I think that our astrological signs do determine many aspects of our personalities.
There are many factors that shape a person; family, environment, personal experiences, etc.  Being born under a certain sign certainly doesn’t determine who you will be, but I do think it’s a general basis of a person.
“Horoscopes and astrology originated with the ancient Greeks, who were sure that a person’s life was pre-determined and predictable by the positioning of certain heavenly bodies (sun and moon) and constellations present at the time of a person’s birth.” -History of Horoscopes
These are the some traits of a Pisces.  If you know me there is no way you can say this doesn’t describe me:
Positive Traits of a Pisces -Romantic, Trustworthy, Aloof, Dreamy, Creative, Understanding, Accepting, Intuitive, Thinks with heart.
Negative Traits of a Pisces-Unrealistic, Impractical, Escapist, Indecisive, Thinks with heart,
Likes-Romance, Nature, Poetry, Mystical settings, being loved / wanted, Freedom, Privacy, Counseling/Giving Advice
Dislikes-Noise, Crowds, Dirt & ugliness, Garish, objects, Criticism, Being reminded, Tight spaces, Authority, Revealing private life
It’s slightly undeniable. While I know that many people may share these characteristics, these are ones that I feel really define the core of who I am.  Also, I have found in my reading that Pisces are so intuitive and aware of subtleties that we are actually thought to be somewhat psychic.  I fucking knew it.
Because of my belief that astrological signs can tell us a lot about our personalities I also think they are interesting gauges for compatibility.  I don’t know people’s signs based on birthdays, I don’t know the characteristics of any other signs, and I would never disregard someone based on a bad astrological compatibility match.  However, it is helpful to understand the differences and issues that come up. Some people just don’t work well together and it is simply because of our personal needs and desires based on the personalities we were born with.  I was recently telling my friend Rambo about New York and M and one of her first questions about him was his birthday.  I told her and she let out a little gasp and very assuredly and matter-of-factly she said, "Oh my god.  I love it.  It's perfect...two Pisces."  I was so stoked she knew this.  She is one of us, a fellow fish, so she gets it.  She knows that we are a unique breed and as a Pisces we tend to be too emotional and pensive for other signs, and other signs are rarely romantic or creative enough to maintain our interest.  Pisces are dreamers with a worldview.  I have found that these aspects of mine have not been shared or appreciated in the past and it left me feeling very bored and very lonely.  For the first time it feels easy.  Maybe because he is a Pisces, or maybe he is just a great man, either way I thank the stars.
I am hoping that being a Pisces also explans my totally random obsession and love of mermaids.
